Document: N5035
Author: Guy Davidson
Date: 2026-01-22
Audience: WG21

Guy Davidson's pre-meeting admin telecon agenda for the March 2026 WG21 meeting. Roll call, logistics, subgroup status reports from all active study groups and working groups, new business. The "meeting before the meeting" document.

Fifteen study groups are currently active; eight are dormant (including SG21 Contracts, now that contracts landed in C++26). Full pipeline from SG incubation through EWG/LEWG evolution to CWG/LWG wording review is represented. If you want to know who chairs what and which groups are actually meeting, this is where you look.

We're posting admin telecon agendas now? Must be a slow news day on r/wg21.

Every N-document from the mailing gets posted. House rules.

15 active SGs. 8 dormant. The committee has more subgroups than my company has engineers.

And each one produces a mailing that takes a week to read.

SG4, Networking: Jeff Snyder, Gašper Ažman

SG4 still listed as active. One day, my brothers. One day.

I'll believe std::networking when I can #include <net> in production. So... never.

Guy Davidson running these as convener now. For anyone keeping score, the dormant list is worth a glance:

SGs 2, 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 21 are currently dormant and handled in the main subgroups.

SG21 going dormant makes sense - contracts landed in C++26, remaining work lives in CWG/LWG. SG2 (Modules) being dormant is more interesting. Modules shipped in C++20 but the tooling story is still rough. "Handled in the main subgroups" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

Also notice SG23 Safety and Security is active with Roger Orr and Matthew Butler. That one's going to get busier.

Wait, this isn't a proposal? It's just... an agenda? For a meeting about meetings?
