Legal Structure
Incorporated in the United States as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. That status lets us accept tax deductible donations and operate under a public benefit mandate focused on the C++ ecosystem.
A 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed by a board of directors and committed to transparency.
We fund excellence, build community, shape the future of the language, and open doors for the next generation.
Resources & Sustainability
Libraries maintained by volunteers power much of modern software. We provide the funding and support they need to thrive.
Safety & Security
Memory safety and security scrutiny are rising across critical infrastructure. We invest in safer patterns, better tooling, and compiler development so that performance and safety are not a tradeoff.
Access & Opportunity
High barriers keep talented developers from entering the field. We sponsor education and mentorship to open doors for everyone.
The C++ Alliance accepts tax deductible donations in support of libraries, tooling, compiler engineering, education, and community infrastructure. Endowment support remains an important foundation; public donations help us expand the work. To give or to discuss a gift, contact Louis Tatta at [email protected].
We serve as fiscal sponsor for Boost (since September 2024), providing financial and operational stewardship for shared open source assets. We are exploring fiscal sponsorship for additional open source C++ projects where Alliance support can strengthen long term sustainability. If you manage a project that fits these criteria, contact Louis Tatta at [email protected].
How we are organized and how we are funded.
Operating policies for how we work with the community, handle contributions, and present Alliance positions.
The C++ Alliance employs and sponsors engineers who participate in the ISO C++ committee (WG21). Their technical opinions and committee votes are their own. The Alliance does not direct, review, or condition employment on any delegate's position on any proposal. Our engineers participate as independent technical experts.
The C++ Alliance maintains a governance research program that analyzes the effectiveness of WG21 C++ standardization: its procedures, its consensus practices, and its output. When the Alliance publishes an official position on committee matters, that position reflects the findings of this research program. It does not represent a poll of Alliance staff, nor does it bind the personal views of any engineer, contractor, or board member.
Contribute code, documentation, or tests. Join Slack. Review a library. Every serious contribution moves the ecosystem forward.
As a 501(c)(3), we accept donations to fund infrastructure, engineering staff, standards participation, and the next generation of contributors. We also explore fiscal sponsorship for open source C++ projects that need durable stewardship. Contact Louis Tatta at [email protected] with any inquiries.
